Getting your Amateur Radio license has never been easier. The no-code Technician license allows entry into the hobby without taking a Morse Code test. Technician License ClassesClasses Start January 24th - Register now for the "Discover Ham Radio" (Page 18) in the Winter 2008 CL2 catalog!! Course Name: CEART-8520 Discover Ham Radio Technician License Classes are offered twice per year by the Motor City Radio Club. The classes usually meet on Thursday evenings, at Henry Ford Community College, Dearborn, through their Center for Lifelong Learning courses. We use the book Now You're Talking as a study guide. For complete information, including information on when the next license classes will start, contact Dave Metz at KC8OBH at arrl.net License Examinations in Detroit AreaThe Motor City Amateur Radio Club sponsors ARRL/VEC Amateur Radio exam sessions for those just entering the hobby or for those hams that want to upgrade. All exam sessions test for all Elements. Registration is not required but appreciated. The tests take place at 9 AM. License Study Guides
There are a number of license study guides available to help you get ready for an Amateur Radio exam. For the entry-level Technician license, copies of Now You're Talking!, published by the ARRL, are available at the ARRL Now You're Talking! covers everything you need to study for the written test element to earn your Technician class license! For all license classes, you can buy written element study guides, Morse Code courses on cassette tape or CD, and Morse Code practice software from the ARRL. You can also sometimes find study aids at Radio Shack stores all around town.
